Batley Cemetery Chapels
Location: Kirklees

This project is researching and writing a community archive. Furthermore, the project is designing an exhibition of local cultural heritage which will be shown at the Environment Concern's Office (a local community group), in Batley Cemetery.

Local people are being encouraged to contribute to the archive. Also a mobile archive is allowing less mobile people to learn about their heritage and contribute to the records.

The project is also using its resources in order to familiarise local people with basic IT skills.

Finally, the project is creating interpreted walks and school resource literature. The inspiration for these is coming from the heritage of Batley Cemetery and studies of the many locally famous people, interesting architecture and wildlife.
