Location: Kirklees
FORTHCOMING ATTRACTIONS AND EVENTS (For directions to 'Roskear' please contact Raymond and Christine on 01484 656389)

11 June 2006
Volunteer Work Day 2
Venue: Meet at Roskear 1.00 pm

The main objective on this day will be to remove as much man-made rubbish from the woodland floor as possible, to demolish all the unsightly jumps, ramps and various other constructions that have been built and to repair the landscape. We will also be having a stone scavenge to return the stone that has been scattered all over the woodland back to the walls in preparation for use in repair and reconstruction.
Considering the recent wet weather wellingtons and waterproofs will undoubtedly be the fashion of the day.

18 June 2006
A walk through the woods and tree survey.
Venue: Meet at Roskear at 1.00 pm

Dr Jeff Carr will lead an approximate 2 hour event where we will walk through Pighill Wood, Shaw Wood and Hirst Wood. A survey of numbers and types of tree will be taken in each of the three woods. Upon returning to 'Roskear' Dr Carr will evaluate the findings and explain the different histories of these three woodland areas. This is sure to be a very interesting afternoon. Let's hope for some sunshine.

16 July 2006
Volunteer Work Day 3
Venue: Meet at Roskear at 1.00 pm

We are hoping to arrange a practical and hands on demonstration of the art of dry stone walling. Further information will be posted in due course.

30 July 2006
Volunteer Work Day 4
Venue: Meet at Roskear at 1.00 pm

Depending on previous progress and availability of equipment and materials we may be tackling some fencing, scrub removal or further wall repairs.
There is a possibility that we may also be starting with some of the survey work and there may be an opportunity to learn survey skills at this event.
