An Archaeological Survey of Asket Hill and Wykebeck Woods
Location: Leeds

The group wish to undertake an archaeological survey of a series of earthworks on Asket Hill. They will undertake both desk survey and field survey to try to unravel the nature of the site. There is a difference of opinion between historians and archaeologists as to whether the features are the remains of a mediaeval quarry or an iron age hill fort.

The group will be trained in earthwork survey techniques by professionals. This training will also be open to the wider community and leaflets will be distributed in the area advertising the event. The group will also undertake desk studies of the area. They will produce an exhibition of the findings of the survey and desk research which will be held for a two period in the local library. They will also display the exhibition material at an open day at the local primary school.

They will encourage pupils to have an understanding of the heritage of the local area. The group wuill produce three interpretation panels for the site explaining the nature of the earthworks.
