Archaeo-botany

The group has completed an archaeo-botanical survey of woodland on the site, which suggests that there are remains of ancient woodland that has been a managed resource for centuries, with coppiced and pollarded trees and old hedgerows, one of which is up to a thousand years old and others 400 years plus.

Several ancient-woodland indicator plants have been found, including the quite rare yellow archangel, which is at its northern limits in this part of Yorkshire.
