Fieldwalking

A further 50 hectares was fieldwalked in the autumn. The finds are to be processed during the winter, but initial results suggest that the distribution of multi-period flint scatters extends a kilometre south and half a kilometre east west from the concentrations on the main riverside site. However, the amount of flint decreases and the proportion of tools amongst the waste of manufacture increases. The date range remains the same, from Mesolithic through to Bronze Age.
