So we checked the Grimsby News which was published twice per week then:-

Grimsby News Friday November 23rd 1894.

A LARGE VESSEL MISSING

The steam tug Sarah Joliie, belonging to Liverpool put into Grimsby last week, when her master reported that he had lost a large full rigged ship. The tug was towing the vessel which was light at the time, through the North Sea when the gale sprung up, and in the dark the tow rope broke and the vessel drifted away. The tug endeavoured to find her again, but was unsuccessful. After a short visit to Grimsby she put out again to seek her missing charge. There was a full crew on the sailing ship when she was lost.

There was "severe weather on November 12th and all last week.......stormy weather....... very heavy sea.......dense fog over the Humber and North Sea ....numerous casualties.....damage....lost gear."
