Agill Research Project Phase 2
Location: North Yorkshire

The project will explore and record the social history of a now desterted dales settlement (Moorheads). The study area consists of 1 working farm, abandoned farms and a derelict school.

The group will research the area exploring its heritage (both landscape and built) from Bronze Age to the time it was abandoned in the 1920's. The group will record the buildings currently standing in the area, drawing them and photographing them. They will be supervised by a community archaeologist and will employ the services of an Historic Buildings expert to help them to survey the remaining buildings.

The group will gather information from the remaining former residents of "Moorheads" and use this to inform their findings. The local community will be kept up to date and invited to contibute to the project through information in local libraries, shops and the local press.

The group will also encourage active involvement by holding 3 open days, 3 temporary exhibitions, giving presentations to the general public and AONB staff, undertaking 6 guided walks; 6 school visits, run 2 workshops; produce a detailed gazetteer and project report, which are to be housed at the County Records office.
