Helmsley Walled Garden Project
Location: North Yorkshire

This project will provide a programme of educational and social activities for the local community exploring the heritage of the Garden.

As a first step, the Helmsley Walled Garden is publishing the Helmsley Walled Garden Cook Book, a collection of recipes provided by local people and businesses. It offers a representative cross section of contemporary and traditional cooking in the region. The illustrations have been volunteered by local artists. The aim is twofold: to preserve local traditions and to raise funds for programmes of the Garden.

Launched on 24 February 2004, the cook book is available from the Helmsley Walled Garden at a price of 8.50 pounds per copy plus 1.50 pounds p&p or, if you buy 10 copies, for 75.00 pounds plus 8.50 pounds p&p Please enclose a cheque with your order made payable to “Helmsley Walled Garden (Cook Book)”.

Next, the Garden is organising a series of local cookery classes given by some of the contributors to the cook book and based, if not exclusively, on recipes in it, using local produce including produce from the Walled Garden. Details will soon be announced.
