Oswaldkirk Village History
Location: North Yorkshire

The village history group was formed to research and survey the heritage of the parish by collating an archive and gathering oral histories from all residents. The group will bring together information on built, cultural and natural heritage in the form of an exhibition of photos, historic records and video. A book will also be produced as a lasting interpretation of the work.

Oswaldkirk contains a number of old buildings, lime kilns, a toll point, wells etc and many locals have been resident for most of their lives. The study has much to reveal.

The group is keen to involve as much of the community as possible to increase skills such as interviewing, research and writing/editing as they build up material. It is intended that this project will increase local pride and activity. It will also lead to follow-up studies and an established village group.
