The Thruscross project has now been launched and we have received the first installment of our grant from the Countryside Agency. We have arranged an exhibition of our work in Fewston on November 20th at which we will present the work on our previous project in the area and introduce our new project on Thruscross to local residents and the public at large. We hope and expect to gain new recruits to our team.
The area has been walked for the purpose of an initial overview. A programme of visits to archive sources has been embarked on embracing the County Record Office and the Heritage and Environment Office at Northallerton, and the West Yorkshire Archive Service at Wakefield and Sheepscar, together with visit to the Yorkshire Archaeological Society Archives in Leeds. We have purchased and installed computers and soft ware and work continues on setting up systems and records.
