Whitby Heritage Centre
Location: North Yorkshire

Whitby Archive Heritage Centre is an exhibition of historical local photographs and artifacts, we are a non profit making organisation and any proceeds raised will be used to continue raising awareness of Whitby's heritage within the community.

The family history department is a must for anyone researching about this area of the country. The archive contains hundreds of files on local families, with photographs, birth, marriage and death certificates, family trees, census returns, local enrollment files, donated family papers and copies of many usually hard to find records. Who knows what you might find sifting through the records.

There's more! A photographic department, which will, for a fee, copy items intended to be used as book or article illustrations or for your own collection. Oral history tapes, videos, guided tours for parties, regular special events and a friends membership scheme.

Where was the Railway Tavern? In what year was the 13th Centenary celebrations at Whitby Abbey? Where was Whitby's Prussian Blue dye works? When did the tower of Whitby abbey fall? How big was a jet turners wheel? Which Whitby writer invented a folding crab pot?

Answers to these questions and many more can all be found at the Centre.

We look forward to seeing you there !
